*My Everything* - Kaname/Sesshomaru one-shot

Jaken: "Rin, what are you doing?"


The child in questioning was happily chaining wildflowers together while humming a cheerful tune, much to the little demon's annoyance.


Rin: "I'm making Big Sister a pretty flower-crown as a present for Valentine's Day!"


Golden eyes glanced in the child's direction at the mention of the shikigami woman, who's been traveling with them off and on since her return to the Feudal Era. Sesshomaru listened as Rin explained what Valentine's Day was to a curious Jaken as he relaxed back against a tree.


Jaken: "Huh?! Why on earth do you have to give someone a present?"


Rin: " Because, Master Jaken, it show's you're important to someone!"


The imp grumbled to himself, saying he'll never understand humans and their weird ways while the black-haired girl went back to finishing up her gift. The demon lord pondered over their conversation, wondering if Kaname got him a present before brushing the thought aside, thinking it was foolish to give him something when he already had what he wanted. Not long after finishing her present to her big sister did the woman in question show up, landing gently in the fields on the back of the two-headed dragon, Ah-Un.


Rin: "Big Sister!!"


Running up to woman, Rin presented her Valentine's present to Kaname, causing a bright smile to appear on the shikigami woman's lips, much to the demon lord's pleasure as he silently enjoyed Kaname's happiness. With Rin's flower-crown on her head, the shikigami woman gave the child and a surprised Jaken bags of candy. After hugs from Rin and a mumbled "thank you" from Jaken, Sesshomaru announced they will be leaving soon and ordered Jaken to get Ah-Un water and food before they continued their journey. With Rin helping Jaken with his task that left Kaname alone with the ever silent lord, who was now standing in the fields, looking out into the far off mountains. Months ago she might have felt a little nervous being alone with the silver-haired demon and the silence that surrounded him, but after a few travels with him Kaname came to understand that's how he simply was; only speaking when necessary, never one to waste words.


Kaname: "I'm sorry I didn't get you anything, Sesshomaru, but I kinda figured you wouldn't want something silly like sweets."



He gave a soft hum of agreement, pleased that she was catching onto his likes and dislikes. He was never one for sweets anyways, even as a child. A soft sad was heard to his right, followed by an even softer mumble.



Kaname: "...Just wish I could get you something, though..."



If not for his demonic hearing, Sesshomaru might have missed the small grumble.


Sesshomaru: "I don't need anything."



Kaname: "I know..."



Another sad sigh made golden eyes shift to the short-haired brunette standing next to him, her dark-blue eyes staring at the ground sadly.


Sesshomaru: "I don't need anything because I already have what I want..."



Feeling something big and warm envelope her left hand, dark-blue eyes glanced to see Sesshomaru's only hand gently holding hers. Blushing, Kaname shyly looked up at the silver-haired man, her heartbeat picking up pace at the small, warm look in his usual cold golden eyes. It took her a moment to understand everything and when she finally pieced together his silent meaning, she beamed a bright yet shy smile up to him, her hand gently squeezing his in return. With Rin and Jaken returning with Ah-Un, they continued on their search for Naraku with the demon lord and shikigami woman at the head of the group, their still clasp hands concealed by his battle armor and her shikigami robes.
